Inside the chart

Now you’ve acquainted yourself with everything outside the chart, we can now move on to the key part of the display: the chart itself.

Whilst you might be familiar with some types of chart, bar, pie and line charts for example, there are many different chart types that can be used to visualise data, some of which you may have seen before and some of which you won’t have come across. They vary in complexity, usually depending on the range of different marks and attributes being used.

First, read Reading charts to familiarise yourself with some important visual elements of all chart types. Then read about the various chart types so that you know what to look for and how to read each type effectively.
